Hospital Prioritizes Healthy Birth Outcomes

Seattle Children’s recognizes prematurity and stillbirth as top research priorities needing immediate local and global attention. Washington state’s preterm birth rate has increased by almost one-third in the last decade. Many Seattle Children’s patients suffer serious health problems related to preterm birth. Stillbirth is another adverse pregnancy outcome that devastates 25,000 families in the U.S. every year. GAPPS was founded in 2007 as an initiative of Seattle Children’s. GAPPS Repostiory is housed at Seattle Children’s Research Institute, at the heart of the bio-tech and health sciences hub in the South Lake Union neighborhood.
